Georgetown, KY Asphalt services

Georgetown, the seventh-most populous city in Kentucky, is the seat of Scott County. For most of its existence, Georgetown’s economy was based primarily on agriculture. Things began to change during the 1960s when the route of Interstate 75 passed through Scott County, but the true boom came in 1988 when Toyota opened its first American plant in Georgetown. The city has prospered and grown, transitioning from an economy based on agriculture to a diversified economy that combines manufacturing, family owned farms and small businesses. Supporting this rapidly growing community requires installing and maintaining all of the various pavements necessary for the movement of people and goods. Paving services in Georgetown, KY, run the gamut from road construction to fresh sealcoating for the town’s parking lots. Other frequently requested services include concrete repairs, asphalt overlays, parking lot striping, asphalt repairs, pavement markings, asphalt paving and concrete paving.

Although evidence of Native American occupation has been dated to at least 15,000 years ago, the recorded history of the area begins in 1774. A surveying expedition led by John Floyd arrived from Virginia in June 1774, and by 1775, a few settlers had staked their claims in the area. However, no permanent settlement existed until Johnson Station was established in 1783 approximately five miles from the present site of Georgetown. The following year, Elijah Craig established the town that would become Georgetown, naming it Lebanon. The town was renamed George Town in 1790 to honor George Washington, becoming Georgetown in 1846.

Georgetown grew slowly during the 19th century and throughout most of the 20th century. In 1840, the census recorded a population of little more than 1,500 people, and 100 years later, the population was scarcely more than 4,400 people. The most dramatic growth occurred between 1990 and 2010; the population increased from 11,414 to 29,098. The 2015 estimates placed the population at more than 32,300 people.

With more than 200 structures on the National Register of Historic Places, numerous family owned farms and many newly constructed businesses, Georgetown’s paving needs are quite diverse. However, most requests can be assigned to one of four basic categories.

• Concrete Services: Concrete is a popular choice for the construction of sidewalks, curbs, ADA upgrades and loading docks as well as for the construction of many parking lots and residential driveways. Concrete repairs typically involve crack sealing or patching.  See more about Concrete Services
• Asphalt Paving: Included in this category are the construction of new pavements, asphalt milling, the replacement of existing pavements, asphalt overlays and the installation of speed bumps. Parking lots, urban streets and rural roads are frequently paved with asphalt due to the economical installation costs and the speed of construction and repairs.  See more about Asphalt Paving
• Asphalt Repairs: The most common service requested among asphalt repairs is the filling of cracks in the pavement. This is also one of the most important services. Neglected cracks provide water with a path to access the pavement’s supporting base and damage it. Lacking proper support, the pavement can develop extensive cracking or subside.  See more about Asphalt Repair
• Sealcoating: Sealcoating is essential for prolonging the life of asphalt pavement. Sealants protect against UV rays and automotive fluids. Sealcoating also enhances the color of the pavement and covers minor imperfections in the pavement’s surface.  See more about Asphalt Sealcoating
