Harrodsburg, KY Paving services

The seat of Mercer County, Harrodsburg lies in the heart of the Bluegrass Region. During 2015, tourism in Mercer County added more than $46 million to the county’s economy and accounted for more than 1,100 jobs. With the heavy emphasis on tourism, property owners in Harrodsburg, KY realize the need for well-maintained, attractive pavements. They often find themselves in need of professionals to repair concrete sidewalks, curbs and parking lots or to install asphalt overlays, apply pavement markings, build new pavements or apply sealcoating to asphalt pavement. Keeping pavements in good condition makes the town more attractive to tourists, but it also improves the quality of life for the residents.

Harrodsburg was the first permanent non-native settlement to be established west of the Appalachian Mountains and the oldest city in what would become the state of Kentucky. Although not officially incorporated until 1836, Harrodsburg was founded in 1774 by James Harrod; Harrod had been ordered to survey the land that the British had promised to give soldiers who had served England during the French and Indian War. However, shortly after Harrod founded the town, Daniel Boone arrived with orders from Lord Dunmore recalling the men to serve in the military during Lord Dunmore’s War. The war was so short-lived that it was virtually over the day that the men arrived back in Virginia.

In March 1775, Harrod returned to the area with a group of settlers. He became a wealthy farmer who would eventually own more than 20,000 acres. He was well-respected and served in various political offices. However, Harrod may be most famous for his mysterious disappearance in 1792. He went hunting with two other men and never returned. No one knows whether he chose to abandon his wife, was murdered by one of his companions, died from an accident or illness, was taken captive by Native Americans or met an entirely different fate.

Throughout the 20th century, Harrodsburg enjoyed relatively slow but steady growth. The population was approximately 3,150 in 1910 and 6,061 in 1960. As of 2015, the population of Harrodsburg was estimated to be almost 8,400.

Paved surfaces in Harrodsburg are of varying ages and materials. Many different services may be needed, but four categories of paving services are the most common.

• Concrete work includes new construction as well as concrete repairs to existing parking lots, curbs or sidewalks.  See more about Concrete Services
• Asphalt repairs may refer to the patching of potholes, the filling of cracks or the removal and replacement of a small patch of pavement that has suffered alligator cracking.  See more about Asphalt Repair
• Sealcoating is the application of a sealant to help protect asphalt pavement from damage caused by automotive fluids and UV rays. Since sealcoating also rejuvenates the color, it is often applied to parking lots prior to striping.  See more about Asphalt Sealcoating
